Cairns/Mission Beach/Paluma and Townsville

We did most of our sightseeing around Cairns from Palm Cove. We did go for a swim at the Cairns Lagoon which was great and Phil went to the Botanic gardens in Cairns. We stay 3 nights at the Cairns Coconut Resort where the kids go nuts. Here they have everything imaginable to keep them entertained: Water park, pools, tennis, playground, jumping pillows, outdoor movies every night, mini golf and more...... Time to move on for a rest!

Sunday 6th October we head to Mission beach for 2 nights. Here we have fish and chips on the beach, visit the local beaches at Kurrimine and Bingle Bay, drive to the nearby town of Tully home of the giant Gumboot! ( Look out for the photo of the tree we passed on the way to Tully it gave us a laugh ) and do some Tropical fruit tasting where we were able to taste 20 different fruits.

Tuesday the 8th of October we head to Paluma National Park and camp at Big crystal creek. We spend the afternoon swimming at Paradise water hole a beautiful spot where the water was so clear followed by a swim at the rock slides where I manage to fall over not once but twice. We drive to little crystal creek which also has a lovely swimming hole.

Townsville Wednesday 9th / Thursday 10th October. Townsville Lagoon down on the Esplanade was a lovely spot, we head up to Castle Hill look out and we go to Reef HQ ( Great Barrier Reef Aquarium ) This place was great lots of tropical fish and coral, and underwater tunnel. We listen to some talks watch a dive show and walk through the Turtle hospital.
